Doin' It For The Detail Guy

Award-winning customizer
Steve Contreras is at it again... he's now got a '54 Chevy Sedan Delivery in his Elegant
Auto Body shop in San Leandro, CA that he and his partner Carlos Lima will turn into the
eye-catcher you see pictured here for The Detail Guy.
The vintage Stovebolt reached Steve's shop
in mid-August and the project is now well underway, with thanks to sponsors NAST; Mothers'
Polishes, Waxes and Cleaners; BFGoodrich Tires; Flowmaster Mufflers; Colorado Custom
(wheels); US Radiator; Edelbrock; Sanderson Headers; Jet Hot Coatings; Addco (swaybars);
engine-builder DDM (who put together a killer big-block Chev: that's good for about 425
hp!); Engine Lubrication Systems (pre-luber for the big-block); Interiors By Skip;
Driveline Service of Concord. CA; Herb Martinez Pinstriping; West Coast Powdercoating
Goodtimes Signs And Designs; Painless Wiring Hatwood (hood scoop); and Airtique Cool Stuf
(air-conditioning), to name but a few. The Detail Guy's Kelly Hunter says this rig should
be ready for the 50th Grand National Roadster Show coming up, the Cow Palace in 'San
Francisco in February of '99.
